03 - Mom and Dad

mom and dad met when my mom started working on the job to the dad. They moved together, got me, bought the apartment, got married, got a little sister and when I was three was the sign, and I was one of the privileged kids who grew up with two bedrooms, a double set of Christmas and birthday gifts and the opportunity to say to dad that "I am allowed by my mom," and vice versa.
Mom and Dad taught me to love books, and I learned how to read long before I started school. From Mom I got the same genes, freckles and the toe next to big toe, and from my dad I've got Portuguese genes, the body of the grandmother and the last four toes. My mom taught me the value of playing Foo Fighters loud every time you do housework, she learned me of Leonard Cohen when I still wore diapers, and she is jealous when I go to a concert with, for example, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Patti Smith and Neil Young. Daddy is jealous when I go to a concert with Neil Young and Patti Smith, and it is his fault that I adore the Beatles. He is also responsible for that I love Star Wars, Final Fantasy and WarcraftIII, and my mom is partly responsible that I study what I study. When I can not find more unread books in my bookcase I tend to look at mum's and dad's bookshelves. Where can I find such Ingvar Ambjørnsen, Wassmo, Lars Saabye Christensen, Erlend Loe and Tove Nielsen, and if I pop a little extra care can I find books of writers that I've never heard of, but I am madly in love after reading two pages.
mom and dad my have done a good job, and now that I'm old enough to realize how cool they are, it's not very difficult to understand how I have been so cool!
