Film no: 112
"Arsenic and Old Lace" (44)
Director: Frank Capra
Actors:
first Cary Grant (Mortimer Brewster)
second Priscilla Lane (Elaine Harper)
third Peter Lorre (Dr. Einstein)
4th Raymond Massey (Jonathan Brewster)
Best Actor: Peter Lorre.
Best scene:
first Torture scene with Peter Lorre as deadens guilt with alcohol and tormented at the thought of murder in Melbourne.
second The opening scene, even if the story did not lead me anywhere.
third When the question of who built the Panama Canal came up that question in "On the track" in the evening the same day we began to look the movie (which was completed today)!
General appreciation: It was as if the script was the result of one of those games where you type the beginning of a story and folds the paper and send it around the table and letting everyone contribute. In this case contributed to the author, in turn, cynical love comedy a la Woody Allen, Agatha Christie-screen version, HAM ACTING, confusion, comedy, meta-fiction, horror, gore, slapstick and a contribution to the debate on euthanasia. It can also be seen as some kind of processing of Fritz Lang's "M".
Rating: 3 + of 5
