Parts Of Columbus's Ship Labeled

Hook and eye

A while ago I tried to make a pair hooks in brass wire. When I bent to the principal form flattened me to the thread something to deformationshärda metal.

The eye is similar to a undated findings from Lund . Now I wonder if anyone has more historical references to simple hooks and eyes. I know there are molded hooks at the Historical Museum in Stockholm, which is dated to the middle ages but I have not seen examples of simple hooks made of bent wire dateradet to earlier than 1500 or so. I have certainly not been looking long and upskattar Especially if someone can help me to sort out the story behind the hooks.
